1) SAT I Scores (new): 2280 (800 M [!], 730 V, 750 W)
2) SAT II Scores: 720 Math I, 720 Lit, 670 Bio (I'm retaking bio)
3) African, parents are ridiculously educated, but international conflicts ruined them for the most part (explained in a heartfelt essay, i guess)
4) Master Debater of my school, Special Distinction from the National Forensic League, State Qualifier, etc
5) Chess Club president
6) Piano; I've only been playing for a year though, and I'm scared that the admissions people will laugh at my sucky recordings...
7) 6th in a class of 138, 4.45 weighted GPA, 3.833 unweighted GPA
8) 100-150 hours of volunteering over all of high school, I think?
9) 15 years old and a senior
10) PSAT Semi-finalist, but who isn't?
11) National Achievement Program finalist
12) I'm applying RD because my teachers couldn't get me my recommendations on time, and some essays weren't done, etc. I missed the deadline by two days or so, made me mad.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but these colleges are frighteningly hard to get into. I suppose my chances are higher because I'm an URM, but who knows? I just finished my Calculus work, school is on my mind...

you are a shoo-in! Don't sweat it at all, I don't mean to be belittling in any way, but you are black and those credentials are impressive for the most competitive non-URM students. In Zuma's Stat roster there was one person with a 1280 SAT who was accepted last year. I wondered how the hell she got in, then I read she was African American, thus proving that your scores are above and beyond what they are looking for in their minority candidates. If there's anybody who is getting in-- it's you.

Well, I honestly think no one is a shoo-in to Harvard, regardless of race. URM applicants can easily get rejected from top schools even with scores in that range, so don't get overly confident.

By the way, how can you know you are an achievement scholar finalist already? That isn't announced until January.

I think you'll get in, but wow you just shot my confidence, I am not applying to Harvard, but shot my confidence for other 3 ivies. those are impressive, LOW SATs, are u ppl kidding me? a 670, big deal. Awesome SAT 1 has more weight.

dont worry about your ec's. it looks like you skipped a couple grades, and the admission's officiers cant honestly expect someone who only spent say 2 years in high school to have a bunch of ec's.

you know, to tell you the truth, there is no point in worrying. After speaking to Admissions director David Evans, as well as several almuni, I have realized that there is no formula into getting into Harvard. What makes you different? That is the key. They are looking for a well rounded class, rather than well rounded test scores. Harvard can fill its class with perfect scores, but they don't want that. Just say your prayers
