Since your black, in at Cornell and some other lower-tier Ivy's. If you can get that score to 2100-2150, You'd probably have an amazing chance at HYPSM since you're black.

what about the other ivy's...what do you think my chances are?

^I think you're a bit misguided as to how big of a role AA plays in admissions.

Based on the OP's stats, he has a minimal (but not impossible) chance at the Ivies. Definitely get that SAT and/or ACT score up.

Well as a National Achievement Semi-finalist that means i scored one of the top 1600 highest African American scores in the nation... and if half of those African Americans attend State colleges...i think being one of the other 800 gives me a decent shot right?

"Well as a National Achievement Semi-finalist that means i scored one of the top 1600 highest African American scores in the nation"

On the PSAT, not necessarily the SAT. The number of students in the top percent could be different there. And I wouldn't assume that top percent don't need to meet certain thresholds. Sorry; I don't have anything more useful to add.

that makes sense so what do you think my chances are?

Sorry... not a "chancer". If you have some in mind that seem like good fit, and you still have time and energy to apply well to other schools, I say go for it!

AA may make or break a borderline student but being black alone certainly will not give the OP a huge advantage. I wouldn't list "Who’s Who Among American High School Students" on the Honors section of the application. The website is defunct for a reason! Listing this might even make the OP look naive and uninformed. And the SAT scores need to be higher for you to have a bigger chance. To be frank, your chance is pretty small for now, but the Ivy League admissions always seemed a bit arbitrary to me, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

You need a huge improvement on your SAT/ACT to have a chance at any Ivy. If you get it to 2100+ I see you getting in at the lower Ivies. If you get it to 2250+ I see you having pretty good chances everywhere.

Your EC list seems very laundry.. what are you passionate about? You will not have enough room to list EVERYTHING.

Also, I agree withsexycani (post #9). Who's Who is a pay for your name in a book thing.

Okey dokes how does this sound
