As an Indian parent of a son who was accepted to UM (OOS), I’ll be honest- I think the GPA is low. Was there a particular reason you had a 2.8 in ninth grade? If there was an extenuating circumstance, your GC should explain this. Michigan really puts GPA first, and their OOS acceptance rate this year is expected to be 20%. Class rigor is also very important. All I can say is make sure that your recs are stellar and that you truly convey your interest in the school. Best of luck.

Thanks for the reply. Me being oos sucks. But I was just lazy my first year. And that gpa isn’t correct. My overall is 3,6 including senior year If that makes a difference

Well, even if it is a 3.6, there is an obvious, REALLY strong upwards trend which will hopefully help you quite a bit. :)

You have a shot, keep your chin up and be happy if you get accepted, if not, just move on. :).

It would have been nice if you were in-state though

Thanks for the response!
