Assuming I can get all As my mid-second semester, write a convincing essay, and get solid professor recommendations, what are my chances that I can transfer into any target school for investment banking? I know I did poorly in two math courses, but I still have a 3.6+.

Target Schools: NYU Stern, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University

I’m sorry, but your chances are extremely slim at all of those schools. All of those schools have a sub 10% acceptance rate, so it is a reach for anyone. Also, it is Princeton’s first year accepting transfer students, but I would not be surprised if their acceptance rate was closer to 1% and they will probably only accept people with very special backgrounds/non traditional students. i.e. ex-military. It is virtually impossible to transfer to Stern since there are NYU CAS students trying to transfer in as well. You probably have the best chance at Penn and Columbia, but even then it is less than 10%.

Having said that, it certainly isn’t impossible. You should give it a shot, but if you are adamant about transferring, you should expand your list to consist of more target schools.

Best of luck

Thank you so much,

Do you think my grades are too low for these schools?

Update: I received a B in my math reasoning course and not a C+

Hey man, your stats are impressive but I agree with the others that it is virtually impossible to transfer to those colleges. Why not consider some schools with higher acceptance rates like UNC, Cornell, Vanderbilt, etc.?

I prefer to stay in the Northeast region. Cornell is definitely a school I’m willing to look into as well.

Thank you for your help btw
