I am a junior in high school with a 2.5 gpa and have not taken the SAT yet. What kind of score would I need to make up for my low gpa? Also, what kind of grades would I need to boost my gpa? (This is my first trimester of junior year) To add on, I am a wrestler, I am in 5 clubs, and have not taken any ap classes yet.

State Universities don’t care about anything else except GPA and test scores. So all of this extracurricular things you have going on isn’t going to help. I think even with a 2.5 GPA and getting an average test score will get you admitted. It depends on what program you want to get into though. Higher standards are held for the impacted majors.

Unless you are local, you need an eligibility index of 3200 or so to be comfortable about SFSU. Locals need 2900. To calculate your EI, they take your CSU GPA * 800 and add your math and reading SAT. Note the CSU GPA excludes freshman year and non-college prep coursework (like PE) and they drop +/- (they also cap your AP count). Most applicants see a drop of .2-.4 So, with a 2.3CSUGPA, you need a 1360/1600 SAT get your EI to 3200.

Non-impacted campuses like Monterrey are looking for an EI of 2900 - which would take an SAT of 1060/1600.

Note also, they don’t care about your extra curricular stuff at all.

If you really want to go straight to a 4 year school, I’d drop some of the non-academic activity and focus on your GPA and test prep.

Good luck

I agree with @NCalRent ^^. Focus on your grades and test scores for a better chance.
