Will I get into UMD? PLEASE REPLY TRUTHFULLY.

Your extracurriculars and course load are very impressive, however, given the advanced level of math and science classes that you have taken, I would have expected an even higher Math SAT score (not that 650 is terrible). Your CR SAT score is the real problem here though. I would think that you would have to raise it by at least 100-150 points. Maryland is very data driven and you will be competing against students with much higher scores. I assume you are a senior in high school so you may not have the ability to submit recent scores if they are higher. I think you have a 50/50 chance of getting in as is, and at the very least could get in under the freshman connection program.

Have you considered UMBC? Your interest in math / science would be a real asset and the school has really grown in reputation over the past 10 years or so.

Good luck to you wherever you end up going.

DavidHopkins, I personally was expecting to nail the math section on the SAT. But, I fell sick and was unable to concentrate properly while giving the test, and ended up having these terrible scores. Thank you for your reply. But, do you think there is not a good chance for me to be admitted to the fall of 2015 term? Thank you again

Ask your admissions rep.

If you had an off test day you could always retake it. Since you’re only shooting for admissions and not honors/scholarships, I personally would just go for regular decision. IMO, if you believe you can get a SAT score jump of a few hundred points, it would greatly outweigh the disadvantage of doing RD over EA. Also, even if you’ve done EA and get deferred, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take the SAT now so that you have better scores to ready to send.

Matt486, thank you for the reply. No, I am not shooting for scholarships or the honors program, but I will be happy if I get inducted. I thought that applying before the priority deadline might increase my chances of getting accepted.BTW I am taking it again this weekend.

Come on guys, 500+ views and no more comments? Help me out guys

Your 470 in CR is really going to hurt you. Your course load and accomplishments are very impressive. You should consider UMBC as a backup. I hope everything works out for you.
