what are my chances of getting in?

freshman: GPA 4.0

sophomore: GPA 4.0, 4.3 weighted

AP Biology (5)

junior: GPA 4.0, 4.7 weighted

AP Calculus AB, AP US History, AP English, AP Environmental Science

senior:

classes: AP Calculus BC, AP Gov, AP English Lit, AP Chem...

SATs: SAT I 2250 (740 CR, 750 M, 760 W), SAT II Biology 770 - took Math L2 and US History

Extra: volunteer at hospital 2+ hours / week, tutor club, mun, model congress, student council vp last semester, tennis team for sophomore + freshman

also last summer i went to oxford university for a month to take classes

ill take the SAT again at the beginning of next year... and its likely ill do better (last practice test i took 800 W, 800 M)

usually 1-2 people from my school get in to stanford a year w/ 5-6 others getting in to ivies

we abolished rankings... (!) but im one of the top 5 students

[-;

Its a reach for everyone but i think u have a good shot

nice gpa/SATs, but a little weak on the ECs. The Recs and the essays can make it or break it for you.

ill probably run for tutor club / mun president next year (i ran for both this year and lost )-: ...i also lost senior class president - which btw was really unfair b/c only 20 ppl out of a class of 350 voted)

ugh

If those 6-8 students aren't typically athletes you at least have a great shot at a top college. What are the 1-2 who get into Stanford normally like? Athletes? Academic superstars? Lots of ECs? Since you come from a school where there is a somewhat consistent number of students who go to Stanford each year your GC is probably the best person to talk to to figure out your chances.

EC-wise I think you're fine, you have about what I had

Essays and recs will be very important, as everyone always says. Make sure your essays hint at your personality and are really real. Your stats/ECs will be fairly common, so your essays are one of the few chances to interact on a more personal level with whoever reads your applicatoin. Choose carefully who writes your recs. I suspect there will be multiple profs who would write very strong recs for you so I doubt that's an issue. Once more, the more they help you come to live in the app, the better off you are.

Good luck! Try not to stress. It sounds like you'll end up at an incredible place no matter how this turns out.

uh here's what i can remember -

this year

stanford: 2 ppl, one is really good at the violin... thats all... thats all he does... besides taking ap calc as an 8th grader and having a 2310 and 4.0, the other... almost nothing, she works at starbucks... and is in choir...

harvard: one of the people ^up there^ got in

princeton: the other person from ^up there^ got in

yale: here's the super overachiever of our class... varsity tennis team, band, editor in chief of paper and valedictorian

brown: he's just in band and is taking a lot of AP's...

dartmouth: 2 ppl, one in band valedictorian, the other is a football player

cornell: several people got in... i dont know who since no one is going there...

i think everyone had my SAT scores + or - 50

last year one person got into stanford, he was a page in the white house and started MUN at our school...

and i guess ill mention about 25 people got into berkeley

so it seems like most of the people who go to top schools from my high school arent that involved in sports - hmm so looks like ill be okay

i think im just @ the end of junior year and am beginning to stress about college - ah its so close and yet so far

ill try not to worry

haha - ah college - cant wait
