What are my chances of getting into Dartmouth for fall 2011?

I am 16 years old and going into my senior year of high school. my unweighted GPA is about a 3.8 and my SAT score is a 2150. I will be taking the SAT one more time, as well as the ACT for the first time in october. I participate in a breadth of activities namely Science Fair. I have been doing research at Ohio State University since 7th grade and as a junior made it to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. I have made it to the state level every year and received awards at the state level. I received two awards, however, at Intel Isef: 1st place in an award sponsored by the NIH and another 3rd place award from the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. I was invited to present to the NIH and also offered a highly competitive internship there next summer by the director of NIDA (NIHs drug abuse branch). I am also the founder and president of the Junior Statesmen of America chapter at my school in which we debate, and discuss several issues relating to the current state of affairs in the world. I am also a member of the in the know (quiz bowl) team at our high school. I am a member of the student council and secretary of our schools top choir. This summer i went first to india and then to china where i helped build houses through habitat for humanity. I have been playing the indian classical drums (tabla) for the last 4 years and have played a few solo performances and won second place in an instrumental talent competition in the state. I am a member of the National Honors Society and place in the top 10% of my class. By the end of senior year I will have taken 10 AP/IB classes. I received an 800 on SAT Math II and a 750 on SAT Chem. I understand my GPA is not very strong and it may even be a little less than 3.8 but I was wondering if my test scores and extra-curricular activities will help my case at dartmouth. I have lived in the US for 12 years but will be applying as an international student unless I receive my greencard in the next month. If you have any suggestions for other colleges that would be a better fit for me please let me know. I will be able to get good recommendations from my teachers as well as an Ohio State Professor that I have been working with for the last 3 years. Thank you.

Anyway, you have a fair shot if you ED. If you put off Dartmouth until regular admissions, your GPA and SAT scores could put you at a slight disadvantage. I would say it’s a high target or low-reach for you after you raise your SAT score a little for ED. Good luck.

Your chances look pretty good but not great.
