What are my chances of getting into Duke University

I want to get into Duke University really bad but I wonder if I should look into other choices since my freshman year I was going through family issues and that showed in my grades and also affected my sophomore classes. If someone can calculate my GPA when I graduate from highschool and also tell me my chances and other college options that are good in the neuroscience field and what I should do for improving my chances and tips that will also be really helpful.

Thanks Bye!!

I forgot I’m also going to be on the student council executive board and tutoring kids after school and my sister is going to be accepted into Duke next year so idk if that gives me a edge

Your GPA looks too low for Duke and your extracurriculars aren’t fantastic. That’s not to say you shouldn’t apply but please look at other schools. The main way your sister will give you an “edge” is by asking her to review your app and getting advice from her as to what extracurriculars to focus on, the right classes to take, essay revision, etc. At this point, Duke seems very difficult for you. Another elite southern school that is still quite selective, but not Duke level, is Emory. Still tough to break in, but a higher chance than Duke for you. State schools will be easier for you break into; there are more selective ones like UVA and UNC and less selective ones like UF that are loved in their states.

How would u know if ur sister is going to be accepted to Duke next year lol it’s never positive

Each year 1 million seniors apply to higher learning. Looking at your accomplishments so far, I’m guessing you are ONE of 80,000 sophomore asking the same question. Between now to start of senior year, please separate yourself from the the rest.

Your chance to Duke will greatly increase with PSAT/National Merit Scholars as Junior and very good SAT/ACT scores (1560/34), and take Summer months to further distance yourself from other student.

Good Luck!

Realistically, you don’t seem to be on a path toward acceptance. You should be considering other colleges.
