What are my chances of getting into exeter?

I need to know what my chances of getting into Exeter are. I'm applying for the tenth grade My teachers will probably give me okay recomondations but they will probably say that i'm kind of lazy. My grades aren't great I get mostly As but i usually get a couple Bs and every once in a while a C or two. I don't have very good essays. On the ssat iwas in the 89% for verbal 83% for math and 98% for reading my total score was in the 95%. I'm in my schools diversity club and in Business Professionals of America I help coach a youth basketball team and i've run track for about four years. I was the AAU indoor national champion in the shotput and i qualified for the AAU junior olympic games last summer in the hurdles and the shotput (i got hurt so i couldn't go) I haven't had my interview yet but i live in texas so i have to have an alumni interview. When i was in seventh grade i did the duke talent search and i got a 25 on the ACT and i got a 31 on the reading section so that qualified me for national recognition. Honestly what are my chances to get in?

I don't respond to many of these chances stuff, but you seem honest in your queries. The AAU indoor national champion in shotput along with a couple other things you have will set you apart. Talk to the track coaches of the schools you want to get into and try your best to write good essays even though you said you don't, and you should be seriosuly considered. Probably just for your track tho

I also was invited to the junior olympics last year also, so you went to detroit right? I got in for my 400m time.

O nevermind..I didnt see the you got hurt part. Did you also qualify for the Us Track and Field Junior olympics that were in nebraska? Cuz that would help also.

Gosh, finally someone honest... It's nice to see someone actually ask a question and give you the full truth without additional prompting

Well, as you can probably imagine, Exeter won't like the lazy part, but that's not unfixable. There are probably a few lazy kids at Exeter, and you never know, maybe your teachers won't mention that in the recommendations. They'll also definitely like your sports, so you might want to play that up just a little in your interview - not too much, though. Not all hope is lost - good luck!

Oh yeah, and as I like to think, the essays are the only part of the application that you have full control over. You can get nervous in interviews, your grades might suffer because you have a teacher that pulls a lot of pop quizzes, and you might be nervous on your SSAT day, but YOU CONTROL YOUR ESSAYS. Just remember that.

thanks for not sugar coating anything,
the lazy thing is probably going to be detrimental to your application, but going to school is all about improving and you haven't been severely punished for being "lazy" right?
the track thing will probably be really good though, since you qualified for the AAU
are you good with people? because your interviews are pretty important, too.
since your ssat score is pretty great, I'd say you've got a pretty decent chance. you're well rounded enough, I'm guessing exeter will give you quite a bit of consideration
