I’m just curious about my chances of getting into Fordham, I would really love to go there! I have a 3.9 GPA and a 26 ACT score. I currently live out-of-state. I’m currently the Treasurer for my Senior class and was Secretary of my class last year. I’m currently a section leader in Marching Band, which I have been involved with for the past 4 years. I have also been in Winter Percussion for 3 years and have been in most of my school’s plays and musicals. I was in choir from 4th grade to 11th grade and have recieved 1’s and 2’s for solos and ensembles. I was Secretary last year for Pretty in Pajamas, which is a school club designed to help women around my local area. I have been in that club for around 4 years. I am also in NHS, and have done about 60-70 hours of community service.
The thing I’m scared about the most is my ACT score. I’m gonna take the SAT in November and retake the ACT in December in order to try and raise it. Do I have a chance at getting admitted?
I forgot to mention that I have taken many honors courses at my high school and and currently taking AP lit and 3 dual-enrollment classes. My school doesn’t rank, although I’m pretty sure I’m in the top 10% at my school.
GPA is more important than SAT/ACT at most schools (or so they say on the Common Data Set…), and your GPA is excellent. I think you’re a match for Fordham – roughly a 40-60% chance of getting in. If Fordham is your clear #1 choice and you can afford it, you might consider applying early for a boost.
Thank you so much! I think I’ll definitely give it a shot now
I would definitely take the SAT to raise your chances, best of luck-it is a great school!
A GPA of 3.9 is good for Fordham, as 40% of its applicants with 3.75+ GPAs were admitted. However, your ACT score is exactly its 25% rank. Getting it to a 30 is good because its 75% rank score is a 30.
How are you doing on your SAT practice tests? You may get a better score on the SAT, as some students are do better on it.
Good luck.
