I’m nearly finished with my Common Application and am applying to Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and Stanford. I’ve also applied to a few local schools that I’m more likely to get into.
I have a 4.0 GPA
I’m in three of my school’s four AP classes- Calculus, US History, and Chemistry (which is two periods)
I have two 34s on the Act- highest in each is 36 English, 35 Math, 34 Reading, and 35 Science
760 on SAT Math II
710 on SAT Biology M
I’m in Student Council, DECA, Track and Field, and am Historian of NHS.
I also received the Bausch and Lomb Science Award for my school last year.
What would you say are my chances of getting into each of these schools?
Your extra curriculars are very weak and average. What have you accomplished in those clubs? Simply putting down clubs that you may attend a meeting every month means nothing. Get more involved!
Virtually no chance at those schools.
Academically, you should tick the boxes. ECs are standard but if you get good recommendations and market yourself as someone who can bring something unique or has an interesting background via the essays, I’d say it won’t hurt to apply. No one ever stands a good chance for those unis - best you can hope for is to be competitive and if you’re essays are good, combined with decent scores, you’re in the consideration pile.
@richardsimpleton I know it’s too late now, but I think you have a fair shot as long as you developed your personality and ticks in all essays. Also, Stanford is technically not an Ivy. Yes, it is at the same caliber of education but being from Stanford’s community, we get mad because we are much more “progressive” than the “stereotypical, old-school Ivy League.” We’re part of the Pac12.
