So I’m a Junior right now in high school, and a few weeks ago I came up with thought that I really really really want to become a surgeon or doctor. After looking around the web and talking to my counselor, I got interested in John Hopkins in particular. Unfortunately, I didn’t try very hard my freshmen and sophomore year because I lacked any ambition or objective, and my un-weighted GPA was only a 3.2. If I get perfect grades this year, which I should, I can only raise it to an un-weighted 3.4. If I get perfect grades till senior year, I’ll get a 3.5 un-weighted.
Despite my terrible GPA, I do have a few pros. By mid senior year, I will have:
5 years of band (4 years high school/Flute)
4 years of piano
4 years of Spanish
Fluent Chinese. (I got a 5 on the AP test, I should get a good score on SAT for Chinese too)
1 year of NHS
1 summer of hospital volunteering at Honors Health
2 years of Student Government
2 years of Bell Choir (a church activity)
7 AP classes + 4 for senior year
2 years in the Gardening/Botany club
Do you guys think I have any chance of getting into JHU?
If not, do you guys have any suggestions on how I can increase my chances of getting in? Or should I just completely give up the idea and go for a more mediocre school?
