I am currently entering my sophomore year of high school. I go to a top notch high school that is very competitive..
My freshman gpa was 4.3 weighted
All of my classes were honors
I am in the top 10%
I was on the varsity High Q team (Which made it to nationals), and I am hoping to become the captain of it my junior year
I am in the Pre-Med club
I actively volunteer at a local hospital
I am fluent in Spanish and I am trying to become fluent in Japanese
I am fairly skilled at playing the violin
My sophomore year I wish to join NHS and become a member of Mensa (I don't know whether that helps)
And I want to start a charity club my sophomore year
So based on my resume, do I have a good shot at making it? And what else can I do?

What’s your unweighted GPA? And what major are you interested in (It will be a lot harder to “make it” if you want to go into Biomedical Engineering)? Good ways to boost your chances will be, in order of importance:
- [] Keep that GPA up
[] High SAT / ACT score (2100+ or 33+)
[] High SAT 2 scores (600+)
[] Good essays and letters of recommendation
Your ECs are really good as far as I’m concerned, but first and foremost, Hopkins cares about academics.

Thank you for the advice. My unweighted GPA is at about 3.8. I am still not 100% certain of what I want to major in, but the career that is at the top of my list is surgeon, so anything pertaining to that (human physiology, human biology, etc.) would probably be the majors that I would currently choose.

Also, is it alright if I don’t play sports?

Yeah, your GPA is a tad low, but if you have good test scores, that will be a big help. I know that Hopkins doesn’t admit by major, so as long as you aren’t planning to major in Biomedical Engineering, you’ll have the standard chances of getting in. Although, there’s no Physiology major. But there is Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and also Behavioral Biology, which would be closer to Human Biology.

And yeah, it’s fine if you don’t play sports. I’ve never played a sport one day in my life outside of a gym class, lol.

Alright, thank you, and I’ll try to get it up
