<p>Freshman year is definitely going to hurt your GPA, but if you show an upward trend you can held remedy that somewhat. Try your best to achieve high standardized test scores, and get some leadership positions in clubs that truly interest you. Pursue scholarships and other honors/awards while you still can also. As of right now, your chances are not terrible compared to most other applicants’, but that’s not saying much considering MIT’s acceptance rate. Junior year is the most important, so keep that in mind moving forward and try to get the most out of it.</p>
