What are my chances at MIT if I messed up my freshman year?

Let's say freshman year was AWFUL. Like, completely ridiculously terrible.
I had D's and C's in freshman year.
I'm a sophomore now.
Is there any way I can get into MIT still straight out of high school? I'm doing WAY more than the average student now. I have a 4.0 and I do so many extracurricular, volunteer work, I've been published for a physics research article, etc. etc.

Still, freshman year haunts me.

Is there any chance, if I'm super amazing, that I can still get into MIT, or is there just no way?

The best you can do is strive for all A’s and high SAT scores.

If you had any difficulty that led to your awful result in the freshman year, you should explain this. MIT is holistic; they will consider your context and if you’re striking hard for the better.
