What Are My Chances of Getting Into NYU CAS?

SAT: 1450
ACT: 33 (but a 29 in math)
Subject Tests: 770, 750, 730
GPA: 3.95 UW, 4.21 W
Straight A’s except 1 A- in 9th and 2 A-'s 11th, until first semester senior year where I got 4 A-'s and 2 A’s (I explained that my new epilepsy medication made me have a few concentration/forgetfulness problems but that the forgetfulness was waning and that my doctor thinks my brain will be back to normal/adjust soon)
6 APs: 555544. I had to self-study for 3 of them because my school doesn’t offer them. Taking 1 AP class this year; my school doesn’t offer many.

Awards:
Commended Student on PSAT
National Spanish Honors Society
National Spanish Recognition Program
Won a study abroad trip to Spain through the National Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (the teacher who nominated me wrote one of my letters of rec)

JSA (debate club) 10th-12th; wrote my own bill to be debated at mock congress and it got chosen and passed, and I won best speaker for it
Varsity track 9th
Research with nonprofit that organized political events and searched for donors for charities

Other:
White, but half Hispanic
My Common App essay was about figuring out my multicultural identity/how to define myself.

I said NYU was my primary campus of interest and didn’t list any others. I listed CAS as my first choice (history as primary area of study) and Liberal Studies Core Program as my second.

Be honest!

Looks like a very solid application! Good luck!

Thanks so much!! The wait is stressful :frowning:

Can you afford NYU? That is the bigger question, one assumes you applied for FA? NYU is notoriously stingy.

Yeah, we could do it; it isn’t ideal and I’m not sure how down my parents would be to pay but it is possible

The real problem is that an admission with no FA is the same as a rejection when parents (sensibly if they cannot afford it) won’t pony up the near 70K a year it is going to cost. You should bear that in mind. If you were full pay you could have been ED, no? So you have applied for FA? You ran an NPC?

There’s always the possibility of (smaller, admittedly) outside scholarships, but yes, I applied for FA. And I’m scared of ED anyway because I could never commit that early without seeing all my options. And no, I just volunteered for one (non-profit company?).

Sorry, NPC is a net price calculator, it gives you an idea of what your cost might be.

Lordy, I had never looked at NYUs NPC but LOL.

Many schools subtract your outside scholarships $$ value from any FA you get, you would need to make sure NYU allows stacking.
