What are my chances of getting into NYU stern?

Hi guys, I am currently SUPER stress about my college application, and i would love to have some help and advice from someone. I have made up my mind that I will apply ED1 Stern, and I would really like to know what are the chance of getting in. And also, if rejected, what are some other school that you would recommend to apply that wall street company would look for/ hire. (My career goal is to work at wall street)

Here is my background

Asian (I am from china, but I have the green card(permanent resident), so i am applying as a domestic student, don’t know if that would help)

Graduate in 2018

GPA 3.57 UW

SAT:1400( still brining up, i would aim for a 1450)

EC: Varsity Football (11,12)
Varsity Tennis(11,12)
Band (9,10,11,12)
International Student Leadership (12)

I know that my background are not shiny and has very less to mention, but I still want to give a shot to apply stern. And also, I have been admitted in to the NYU precollege program, i don’t know if that would help if I get a good grade there.

Anyway, by just looking at this, what is the chance that I will be admitted in to stern? And what are some other school you would recommend to apply, thank you guys so much!

NYU Stern is one of the top US business schools, so it is very difficult to apply. Your standardize test is okay but honestly it’s not enough so I would recommend it as a reach school for you so in the meantime you can google other colleges. Your goal should be SAT1450 and TOEFL 105+, this will get you into decent colleges( But even so stern is still difficult). Dont panic, if you are going to graduate school anyway, just try to do your best.

if Stern is your dream, work hard and go for it! Instead of being overly stressed, do everything in your power to make yourself a better applicant (get good grades in school, possibly increase your SAT score, try to involve yourself in business related extracurriculars)
your stats overall are good, and I think you have a chance but with a highly selective school like NYU Stern, you never really know for sure. I feel like Stern is one of those schools thats basically a reach for everyone. with that being said, since you already got admitted to their precollege program, work hard when you’re there and leave a good impression so that when you do apply next year, they’ll remember you as a hardworking, passionate, and driven individual. good luck!

Thank you for your advise, I actually do not need to take TOEFL because I came to U.S studying since 5th grade, so this is a good news for me which allows me to focus on my SAT. Can you also recommend some other colleges with a strong business/finance program that i can have a higher chance to get in (applying RD)? Thanks again! @chapterone

Oh sorry I miss the part that you are a local student instead of an international student, that will increase you chance for sure. Have you looked at IU, Michigan, and USC? They all have good business schools so I believe their business/finance programs are pretty strong also.

Wharton
Northwestern (Kellogg School of Management)
UC Berkeley
MIT
if you’re considering ivies (Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Dartmouth, Cornell)
UCLA
IU
USC
UNC
Duke
Michigan
Carnegie Mellon
Rice
Vanderbilt
Georgetown
UC Irvine
Texas-Austin

and this is just some of the good business schools in the country. there are definitely a lot more! so if I were you, I’d do your research to see which school seems best fit for you.
