Chances of acceptance into NYU Stern undergraduate?

Hi everyone! I’m new to CC and I wanted to get your opinions on my chances of getting into NYU Stern undergraduate. I am a white male and I go to a public high school.

•GPA (100 pt. scale): 95.69 unweighted;101 weighted
•2020 SAT score; 29 ACT (will retry the ACT)
•Course rigor: 7 AP classes total(APUSH, AP Calc AB, AP Chem, AP Economics, AP Physics, AP language and composition, AP world history (10th grade)); All other classes are Honors classes; “wind ensemble” (my school’s most advanced band).
•extracurriculars: 8 Honor societies, Italian club, class government (treasurer in 10th grade), student government, history club, English club, president of English Honor society, treasurer of Business Honor Society, 100+ hours of community service, advanced outside-of-school Orchestra member (play at well-known stages such as Carnegie Hall), volleyball team, outside-of-school volleyball club (play around the nation at national tournaments).
•attended the Columbia University Summer Program for High School Students (coursework in Business, finance, and eco)

IMPORTANT NOTES: I am applying early decision 1. Also, not sure if it will help but i know it won’t hurt, but i am getting a letter of rec from the CEO of a publicly traded company.

Thank you so much!

Whats the breakdown of your SAT. NYU stern lists their sat out of 1600, so M+CR are kind of important. Otherwise, you look pretty solid.

Thank you for your reply! My 2 part is 1360 total. 640 CR and 720 Math. Also, do you know the average SAT score for stern undergrads? I have yet to see that statistic. (Maybe I’m not looking hard enough haha)

around a 1450 is the average

Oh wow… Im curious as to why you think I have a chance of acceptance even though my SAT is way below average?

Are you a full,pay?

Not sure what that means but if it means Am I able to pay full tuition then yes I am.

@Libero331884 I didn’t realize that your SAT CR+M was that much lower than the average. If you can bring it up over a 1400, preferably a 1450 I think you could have a chance.

Also refering to the comment above, if you can pay full tuition your chances at a school like NYU increase (NYU is known for being stingy).

Full pay and full tuition are different. Full tuition is ~$30k/year (not including room & board), or $120k over 4 years. Full pay is when the family pays for everything meaning ~$70k/year or $280k over 4 years. Big difference.

Thank you for your honesty. I really appreciate it. I have been studying vigorously for the October 3rd SAT. Hopefully it will pay off. Stern would be a dream come true! Again, thank you!

Fortunately I will be able to pay whatever. An education from stern would be, for me, priceless!

One more question, sorry haha. Let’s just say my SAT did not increase (which I don’t foresee happening)… Taking into account my gpa, great letters of rec, and everything else (hopefully a good essay as well), do you think I have a shot at being accepted? Or is my SAT score really holding me back that much?

Yeah I honestly do. Although Stern does love a good SAT score, they also let in kids without so(yours is pretty decent though rn). I know kids at my school who have gotten in with only slightly higher SAT score and around the same GPA. Give it a try. Also, being white does help slightly since the school is very Asian, just a minor increase in your chances perhaps. Good luck man

Awesome. Thanks so much man. I wish you the best in college and your future career!
