What are my chances of getting into NYU?

Hi, I’m a senior in high school and NYU has always been my dream school. I think I can get in, but I also would like to know if I can obtain any scholarships they offer (and I know they don’t offer much because a lot of people apply.) Anyways, I’m thinking I would most likely apply to the College of Arts and Science. I would probably major in English or Journalism, but I’m still a bit undecided. Here’s some things about me…

-My schedule consists of Journalism, World Geography-Enriched, Physiology, AP English IV Lit and Comp, AP Calculus BC, Spanish 4-Enriched, and AP Psychology
-My GPA is 4.59 and I’m ranked 4/438 kids right now
-I am half-Hispanic, but not fluent (as you saw, I’m taking Spanish)
-I got 3’s last year on my AP English Language and Comp and US History exams
-I am president of my school’s chapter of NHS
-I am speech captain
-I’m also equally and highly involved in student council, KEY club, Spanish club, book club, Mu Alpha Theta (math honor society), speech and debate honor society, and Spanish honor society
-I went to Costa Rica with Spanish club over the summer
-My ACT score was a 30 with an English subscore of 35 and a reading subscore of 33. My writing score was only 24 though, so should I try again?

Like I said earlier, I’m still undecided on what I want to pursue. All I know is that English is my favorite subject, but I’m not the strongest writer. I would say I’m good, but not exceptional. I also know I want go to college in an urban area like Chicago or New York. So my questions are: (1) What are my chances at NYU and their scholarship opportunities? (2) Any other good schools you can think of? (3) Should I retake the ACT with writing if I want to go into something English related? (4) And finally, what careers are good in the fields I listed (English or journalism), and also is there anything in business that can relate?

(Sorry for all the questions…)

What’s your unweighted GPA? I would also suggest retaking the ACT in order to boost it up to at least a 33, despite your 35 in the English section. What other colleges are you applying to?
