I’m currently a Junior and I’m looking into SBU as one of the colleges I’m interested in applying to.
I’ve taken four college classes and of those four, I’m currently taking two (College Eng & Global). I took college Latin for two years and got a B- for the first year and a B the next year (not really proud of myself there). But I have an A in college Eng and Global. I withdrew from one college course though, mytholgogy. I currently have 8 college credits and my college GPA is about a 3.5.
My high school GPA is 88.78, and I haven’t taken the SAT yet but my PSAT score was a 1050 (didnt study for it, took it last year).
I have a lot of extracurriculars, and I’m currently an intern at Queens College Writing Center. I help juniors and seniors with drafting and editing their college essays and such. I’m also going to intern at a hospital during the summer. I have four volunteer works so far, but they don’t really stand out: tutoring, music teacher assistant at my school, STEM event coordinator for middle schoolers, and help backstage for a musical production at my school
Clubs:
Gardening club
Anime club
Math club (mathletes)
National honor society
Tri-M music honor society
S!NG club for 2 years
My grades aren’t that high, but I’m still a junior and I’m trying to raise them. I also haven’t taken the sat yet. Is stony brook really as competing as they say they are? I’ve heard that kids with a 2.8 GPA got in but that must mean that something else in their application stood out. Any tips on how to stand out?
I want to double major in nursing and psychology and minor in journalism/eng/creative writing
Thanks for reading all this!!
