Volunteer activities include volunteering for a man running for Congress, singing at church.
When I was attending a public school, I was on the school newspaper and was on the Speech and Debate team, and also was in chorus and Select choir.

I'm thinking of retaking the SAT, but that would be after I apply. Would the new score be submitted to the college if it's better?

Maurik, I think you can indicate on the SAT form which schools you want to receive the score, and it’s free. The only downfall is that you won’t know what it is. You can always wait until after you’ve received the score to send it, but there’ll be a fee. If you think your new score will be higher than your previous, you should send it.

If I retake the SAT on November 5, how long would it take for SB to get my results? I know the application deadline is November 1, and someone else told me that they would have to get the results within two weeks of the deadline. Can anyone help me out here?

We typically get the results pretty quickly, yes. But regardless – November 1 is the SPRING deadline, not the fall deadline. It’s January 15 for Fall 2012, so you have plenty of time.

Seriously? Are you just bragging or do you actually think that you didn’t get in? Wow. Of course you got in… You have close to a 4.0 and a kickass SAT score. Smd, bragger…

Wow, tkdspecialist94, that’s really mature of you.

Maybe instead of telling this “bragger” to “s(y)d”, you should work on improving your own intelligence, since you’re obviously envious of the OP’s.

They have a right to be worried about college admissions, it’s a scary process. And they also have the right to list and be proud of their accomplishments.

I think you have a good chance of getting into StonyBrook and signing up to visit the school is always a good way to show interest because I know some schools take that into account.

I’m currently a sophmore at a 4-year cuny college & I really want to transfer into Stonybrook & was worried I might not get in due to my previous semester’s grade.

My cumulative GPA is: 3.521

Freshman Year
First Semester GPA: 3.925
Second Semester GPA: 3.525
Deans List

Sophmore Year
First Semester GPA: 3.146

With out my second semester of my sophmore year included i have earned 38 credits & am expecting to earn 50 by this upcoming May. I have already submitted my application in January. I really want to go to SBU because they are one of the best journalism school’s in NYC & I would greatly appreciate any feedback you have to offer. Thank you and best of luck to everyone!
