I go to a well known, college prep high school that has a dual curriculum. (We take Jewish courses on top of normal secular courses and a foreign language)
I am apply early decision to SU.
My grades from 9th-11th grade were really bad, I had B's and C's.
However, this year I was diagnosed with ADD and have been on medication for it. (It is noted in my college guidance counselor's reccomendation in my application) and so my senior year grades are all A's.
I am a first generation college student in my family. My father is of Israeli ethnicity, and my mom is Russian. My college essay is about growing up in a multi-cultured family.
My SAT scores are math- 490 reading- 530 writing-550 (1570)
I am taking them again this weekend and am hoping for a 1600.
I will be applying to the David Falk School, and my second choice will be the school of Arts & Sciences (easiest one to get into at SU)
I have a lot of school clubs on my application, volunteer work, as well as a waitress job since 9th grade.
I have an interview for Syracuse in two weeks, and am fairly good with interviews and will do my research for it.
I visited the campus, attended the meeting when the SU rep came to my school, and that's about all.
Do you think I have a chance?

I basically have the same stats as you, I really hope we both get in! Good luck :)

Your SAT scores are a little below average. Your GPA may be a little below average, as well. I’d say it’s a reach. Good luck on your SATs this weekend.

Do you think they would consider my essay? I spoke about all the obstacles I have faced throughout my life and how I triumphed over them and how I will not let them inhibit where I plan to go. I basically want to start fresh at their school and I really hope they look at my application through the eyes of my essay. My GPA is a 2.85
