What are my chances of getting into the second round of acceptances at FSU (due feb 7th)

I am debating on applying to FSU for the second time. I applied for the early admissions (due in November) and I was denied admission on January 25th. I know other people who got in with similar gpa and lower SAT & ACT scores as me and I was wondering if it’s worth it to try again for the application due February 7th (decision in March)

Right now I have a 3.0 unweighted GPA and a 3.7 weighted gpa. I have an SAT score of 1200 and an ACT score of 25. I will say I didn’t do my best during my freshman and sophomore years. Freshmen year I had a 2.8 unweighted and 3.2 weighted (pretty bad I know) and sophomore year I had a 2.7 unweighted and 3.4 unweighted

But during my junior year I sky rotted with my AP and ended with a 3.7 unweighted and 4.7

At the end of junior year I had a cumulative of a 3.0 weighted and a 3.8 unweighted but my first semester of senior year has not been calculated into that. I’ve heard the second round of admissions for FSU is harder, is that true? Should I still try?

I really want to go to FSU but if I shouldn’t
give it a try and apply again should I just go to TCC and transfer to FSU? I have also been accepted into FGCU, FAU, and UNF but I’m not really in love with them, what are your opinions?

I forgot to mention I am currently in 4 clubs and I am secretary of one of them, I also have a job, and I do some volunteering if that would increase my chances of getting in.

Would you have to submit a new application fee and resubmit transcripts, test scores to be considered for regular admission? Or can you just update your current application for regular decision and also update SSAR, resume, essay, accordingly?

I’m think I’d have to resubmit everything

If you’ve got your heart set on FSU, I would update the info and resubmit for regular decision. I think my son might do that, too. Not sure, yet. I have heard that regular decision is harder to get into and you would have to wait until March to find out if you’re accepted. Congratulations on your acceptances into FAU, FGCU and UNF! Those are all good schools, too.

As far as TCC Pathways goes, I think that’s a new program at FSU?

Thank you so much! & I’ve heard good things about TCC but I’m just afraid if I do that I could be missing out on the full experience of FSU, thank u for ur advice! I wish you and your son good luck in March!

Does FSU allow this? At other schools, you only apply once. If you apply by the EA (or I guess first round) deadline, you can be accepted, declined, or deferred with the first round decision. A deferral means that your application will be reconsidered during the RD round if you request it. Being declined means that you have not been accepted and your application will not be reviewed for the second round.

Hmmm good point, I’d have to look into it, thank you

I just looked it up and found that, in general (not specific to FSU), if you are denied admission for early decision at a college then you can not reapply for regular decision. Sounds like the next step would be choosing another school to attend and then in a year or so apply for a transfer to FSU. Luckily you have some great options to choose from, including TCC if you prefer to go that route. Good luck!

Thank you!
