What are my chances of getting into the University of Minnesota?

I am a Wisconsin resident and i applied to the University of Minnesota CLA but i'm worried about whether or not i'll be accepted, I applied back in September & I haven't heard anything back from them.

I have a 20 on the ACT and an 8 on the writing portion; which is the main reason i think i won't get accepted although i'm retaking it again in december

My GPA is 3.5 and im in the top 17% of my graduating class

I've taken Honors classes in my core subject areas & 3 AP classes in World History, US History & Economics

Activities include:
Varsity Cheerleader all 4 yrs
Band for 3 yrs
Student Activities Council my junior year

Volunteer includes:
Helping Youth Cheerleaders at a middle school
& over the summer I volunteered in New Orleans to help rebuild

Work:
-McDonald's part time
-A creative arts camp counselor for children two summers in a row
-Baby-sitting

So, do i have a chance of being accepted into the U of M?, & if not is the University of Wisconsin Stout a good school to consider to major in psychology on the pre-med track?,,,,or what other schools are in the mid-west that would be best for that major

Honestly, you have little to no chance at the U for psychology (CLA). Stout is known to be kind of a slacker school (no finals) but definitly check out UW Eau Claire, University of Minnesota Duluth, and Marquette.

you need to do better on that ACT… a 20 is the equivalent of a 950 on the old SAT

eau claire would be tough with a 20. their median score is a 24 and the word is it is only going to get tougher. I would retake the test. But the other schools seem like fine choices. Same for marquette, it would be tough to go there with a 20

okay thanks,i’ve been accepted into minnesota state university-mankato and UW-Stout and i wanted to know which school would be better for my intended major?

stout…all the way. I mean I got a 24 on my ACT. The rumors degrading stout are crap. It’s a good school(and yes they do have finals) any one can be a slacker no matter where you go. the graduation placement is 98% and you’re put into classes related to your major your freshman year. Just because it’s a party school doesn’t mean it sucks. As for UMD, anyone can get into it, and it’s expensive, and nothing compared to the U of M.
