What are my chances of getting into UC Berkeley?

I moved into US from a southeast Asian country about two years ago and I am currently a junior in high school. My parents didn’t go to college, so I didn’t have much knowledge about college applications process. Do you think I still have a chance in uc berkeley or any other uc’s with a weighted gpa around 4.16?

What are your tests and EC’s? Intended major?

Thanks for replying @Gumbymom . I got a really bad score in my SAT that I took on November and am currently preparing for the SAT subject tests and the ACT. I don’t have a lot of EC’s as well. I have been a key club member for two years, three years if I count my senior year, I am in mock trial this year and I’m planning on taking it next year as well, and I volunteer during weekends. My intended major is biology or chemistry, planning on taking either one of them. I also work during the week and if I were to add that information, where would I write it?

What is your SAT score? Saying it is “bad” doesn’t tell us much and is very subjective. Standardized test scores are huge and just how “bad” or "good your score is is huge in determining whether or not you get in, especially with a school like Cal.

I got 1842 on my SAT, but I am going to take the ACT this time and I’ll probably send the ACT scores. I didn’t practice for the SAT but I am actually practicing for the ACT. How much ACT score do you think is good enough to get into Cal?

What is your GPA? Your ECs? Right now your application isn’t looking great for UC Berkeley.

1842 is not a possible SAT score. Do you have a real score to share?

It was somewhere in between 1800.

@lhakila The UC application should spell it out pretty clearly; it’s been a while since I applied to the UC schools but the online applications are generally pretty self-explanatory.

Your SAT score was not 1842. But assuming it’s in the 1800-1850 range, that is fairly weak considering that the 25%ile score for admitted students is around 1870. Taking the ACT is probably a good idea.

What is your UW GPA? Have you fulfilled the a-g requirements?
