I am in high school now. I really wanna get into this university, I applied it, a weeks later I'm going to know their decision, but I just want to know what are my chances of getting accepted, I am very nervous.
Here are some of my information:
My Regular GPA is about 3.78
My class rank is about top 7%
I am an international student
Lived in illinois for 3.5 years
26 on the ACT
(took ACT twice, both time I got 36 on math section)
I joined math team and chess team for 4 years
(got a lot of awards and went to state competitions for these two teams)
I was in varsity tennis team for 2 years
I took AP calculus BC in my junior years and got 5 on AP exam
I am also taking AP statistics and AP physics
I have done some small amount volunteers
I have working experience
My major will be computer science
(I know, so hard to get in for this major)
I am still in ESL (currently highest level of ESL).
I didn't take any computer-related class in high school except typing, but I learn computer programming by myself.

My ACT is kind of low because my English isn't too good, and three sections of ACT(reading, English, Science) are strongly related with English, so the scores of those three sections make my ACT score low.

BTW, I am asian.
I already got accepted by Loyola University and Harper college.
The major is all computer science.

So, I want you to think about my situation and tell me what are my chances.

Haha, the same person from yahoo answers. And as I said there, I believe you have a very good shot at getting in. I applied to engineering as well and got in with a lower GPA than you (but only slightly) and not quite as many extracurriculars. Engineering is hard to get into but, seriously, it isn't like MIT or anything. You are a strong applicant, so you have a strong chance to get into a strong program. Also, I am sure that the admissions office will understand that English is not yhour native language. And the fact that you are an international student will probably help, as most universities want to make their student bodies more diverse.

Also, just look at the stats on here of other students that have applied and gotten in- you are plenty qualified.

Oh, and I am not being too positive- I am being realistic. Take me seriously.

wow, what a small world, kikib1028.
sorry I asked the same question so many times, but I am just too nervous, i don't know what to do if they don't accept me. Anyway, i can't blame anybody but myself if they don't accept me.
I am a bit relived after seeing your reply though, thanks.

There r a billion azns in UIUC engineering. and they study to death on the ACT. i think their ave act is in the 30-33 range (middle 50%) Bein azn mite be bad there.

Hi, Zouman, I know their average ACT for computer science major is very high, I never study for ACT, I mean never, so I only got 26, that is what I meant by saying "i can't blame anybody but myself if they don't accept me."
I didn't think there's any point for studying for ACT, now I guess I am wrong, ACT score is a very serious thing...
Anyway, hope I can go there. Even by paying a lot of money.

Please relax, I'm a recent UIUC grad and your stats look similar to mine, besides being Asian. You definitely have a chance of getting in, just relax and let your stats speak for you.
