What are my chances of getting into UNC Chapel Hill or NC State?

Hi, I am a new user here and this is my first time posting. Please help "critique" my chances of getting into UNC Chapel Hill or NC State. I tried to ask in Yahoo Answers, but the users there spam my post and give me unhelpful answers. I hope you all can genuinely give me a good answer! Thanks!

So I am a rising senior, female, minority, and in state. I took only honors and AP courses (I will continue to do so in 12th grade) all throughout 9th-11th grade. I know 3 languages (and that is including English) fluently, have good technology/computer skills, and am interested in pursuing biomedical engineering or pharmacy. UNC is my first choice and NC State is my second choice.

CURRENT CLASS RANK: 78/449
UNWEIGHTED GPA: 3.66
WEIGHTED GPA: 4.375
SAT SCORE: 2030
SAT SUBJECT SCORE(S): Biology- 720, U.S. History- 760
ACT SCORE: 27
[I calculated if I get all A's, 1st semester of 12th grade, my GPA will be 4.57 weighted, and 3.71 unweighted, so I plan to work hard before sending off my transcript. Also, I plan to retake SAT and ACT again (I want SAT to be 2200+ and ACT to be at least 33) and take one more SAT subject test. By the way, the SAT subject test scores are from taking them a second time.]

Anyone? Please help?

State looks good. UNC might be obtainable but not a sure thing. 50% of students come from NC so in state appears to be a preference. See below.

Oh thank you for the reply sosomenza! I am living in NC so I am confused as to why you mentioned the statistic about UNC’s preference? I am glad I can reach State, but do you have any suggestions on how to improve my chances of also getting in UNC? Thanks!

You have a solid shot at NC State and an okay chance at UNC. But none of your ECs that you stopped before high school matter and probably don’t belong on your applications. Good luck!

easy in at both schools.

Hi, thank you collegebound124 and swish14 for the feedback! I will keep in mind about the pre-high school ECs matter, but I felt it would “look good” to add pre-high school activities to show that I have been committed to doing ECs actively before entering high school. Anyways, thanks again!
