U Pitt is my dream school but I'm really nervous about getting in. Here are my stats:

GPA (uw):3.6
SAT: CR-610, M-610, W-670 (1890 all together)
class rank: 32/250
6 AP courses, the rest are honors and GT
4 years of Hebrew High School
editor on yearbook staff
did track and field for a year
been playing guitar for 4 years (even though that probably doesn't matter)
senior year internship running a Playkeepers program and tutoring in Hebrew (I get 2 GT credits for it)
Member of my youth group, USY, for 3 years

I know I don't have much going for me but I hope I have some chance of getting in. I also plan on taking my SATs one more time. I'm shooting for over a 1900.

So what are my chances? All answers are greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm from Maryland and also plan on applying to University of Maryland College Park, University of Delaware, U Mass at Amherst, Rutgers, U Conn, and University of Colorado at Boulder. My intended major is Psychology.

I think you have a great chance of getting in. If you’re in-state, you’re pretty much guaranteed admission. If you’re out of state, you still have a great chance considering your ECs are great and you have a lot of APs. The only things holding you back may be your SAT and GPA, but I don’t think it will be a big deal.

I think you have an okay shot at getting into the University of Pittsburgh. Seems to be about on par with the kids from my school who were accepted.

It is not easier to get into Pitt if you are in-state. Pennsylvania residency has absolutely zero bearing on admissions. In fact, it may be easier if you are out-of-state depending on what the geographic diversity of Pitt’s pool of applicants looks like.

That said, Pitt’s average SAT for this fall (2010-11) was 1275 (CR+M, they don’t look at writing). I think you are in good shape, but improved stats and scores will help with scholarship considerations. Pitt has rolling admissions, so the later you apply, the harder it is to get in as the class fills up.

I think you have very good chances at Pitt. The only school I am not sure about is Maryland. Otherwise, I think you have excellent chances at all your other schools. Best of luck!
