What Are My Chances of getting into Upenn?

Hello! I am currently a junior with an unweighted GPA of 3.5, and a weighted GPA of 5.47. I am currently enrolled in the IB program, and my SAT score is a 1420 (690 reading and writing/730 math) with a 23 on the essay. What are my chances of getting into UPenn? (if I have any)

What kinds of extracurriculars/leadership roles do you have? With so many competitive applicants having the same grades and stats, it’s often these, recs, and essays that make all the difference.
Also, confused about the 23 on the essay- are you talking about the ACT there?

I’m president of the recycling club at my school, and I’m on school’s tennis team. And the essay was out of 24 points.

You have an excellent chance!!!

Is your unweighted GPA out of 4? Depending on your school ranking, that seems quite low, though you can always make it up via something else.

I would suggest to retake SAT because 1420 translates to low 2000 according to some rubric I saw, but I could be wrong. But Ideally, you should be aiming for at least 1500+ and higher to make up for your GPA.

If you can, try to get more ECs in!

Try getting your GPA up and retaking the SAT, get it as close to a 1600 as possible. With that being said, your ECs are a bit bland. It’s good that you have leadership but maybe try finding a focus for your interests and join clubs based on that. Make sure your essay is extremely well-written and research a lot about Penn in order to find out certain ins and outs of the school that’ll set your essay apart. Also, voice who you really are in the essays. At the end of the day, ivy admissions are just hits or misses, nobody can really predict whether you’ll get in or not. Hope this helps, good luck!
