What are my chances of getting into UTSA?

Im applying to UTSA soon but I would like to know my chances. I already know right off the bat that Im going to get commitee reviewed bc Im ranked 58% due to some unfortunate circumstances. But I have been doing pretty well my last semester as a senior so HOPEFULLY itll raise my rank a bit. Here are some of the details.

3.689 GPA
1320 SAT
410 Critical Reading
480 Math
430 Writing
Very active in volunteer work
I have about 6 club activites listed in my college apps
Taking Dual credit classes. Will finish the year with 12 college credit hours

Also I retook the last SAT on Dec 7 and am waiting on the scores to come back on the 23. Im thinking about sending my updated transcript with this semester included hoping my GPA and rank go up and with the hopes of a high SAT score.

I just want to know what my chances are of getting in? What are the thing they look for in committe review? If anyone has gone through the same process that would help SO much!! Thanks in advance!!!

I think you should be fine, but this may help.

[Enhanced admission standards lead to UTSA’s most highly qualified students](Enhanced admission standards lead to UTSA's most highly qualified students)

Do you attend UTSA? If you dont mind me asking.

StressedSenior14, committee review means that your did not meet the benchmark requirements to be admitted to UTSA.

The committee looks at a bunch of aspects to see if UTSA would be a good fit for the student. They look at class rank, academic rigor, test scores, extra curricular activities, and if I am not mistaking, they ask for an essay and 2 letters of recommendation. (my friend was put under committee review and she is graduating with Honors this semester!) Judging by your list of activities and scores, I think you will be fine. Just show UTSA your true colors when writing your essay. Add your personality, make them smile. Show off your academic skills with a nice touch of you!

If you haven’t been evaluated yet and your test scores are higher this time around you can submit the new scores through collegeboard.

IF you get evaluated before you submit your new (higher) scores and say you did not get in, you can get “reevaluated”. Students have their own counselors… I would advise to look yours up and call or email them!

Hope this helps and goodluck!

You should be fine. I went to high school about 5 minutes away from UTSA. but I applied to UTSA last year. I got accepted very quickly, I know people who had a very awful SAT score that made it in. You’re okay, and their application process takes awhile so don’t let that stress you out. I’m also transferring there next semester from Texas State because I don’t really like the environment here.

super easy to get in

Okay just to update this thread a little, My GPA went up to a 3.81 and my SAT scores were a 500 on math 480 in CR and a 500 on Writing. My rank is officially 50.41% I plan on send these scores in and maybe send in an updated SAT score from my Jan SAT if I did better.

If anyone with similar stats and got in could comment on this thread that would be great! Thank you all that have commented so far!

With your new GPA i definitely think you’re in.

UTSA: Low match

If you do not mind me asking, how do you have a 3.81 GPA but are ranked in the 51 percentile of your class? You would easily be in the top 5% of my class.

Sloth83: Thank you! Lets hope I do get in. As for chancing you Im not to experienced with Ivy League schools. I hope you all the best though!!
Catria: What do you mean by low match?
Zed456: Welp I wish I went to your high school. Unfortunately Im graduating with a class that has a tons of academically driven students. If only I was like that my freshmen year.

@StressedSenior14 Did you end up getting accepted? My stats are similar to yours.
