I am an in-state applicant and a legacy at UVA (My father and grandfather attended and received doctorates). I am a rising junior, and currently have a 4.0 GPA, and have never made a B in my life. If this continues, I will have a 4.22 at the end of my junior year. I am taking several AP classes, as well as other difficult ones such as "Adv Principles of Physics I & II". I have taken SATs, with my best composite score so far being a 1940. I plan to take it again along with the SAT Subject Tests and the ACT. I am from Southwest Virginia, (many people have told me they're moderately eager to admit people from this area, due to the poor education system). I have a plethora of extra curricular activities and community services. I am the 2 time VHSL State Runner-Up in 2A Extemporaneous Forensics, a member of the Scholastic Bowl Team, Chess Club Founder and Incumbent president, Spanish Club member, Drama Club member, Robotics Team member, football player, and more. In awards, I was the 2014 Kiwanis Citizenship Award winner in my town, I won my high school's World Geography award and Earth Science award, and I placed 6th in the nation in the national middle school stock market competition. I participate in my churches "Brown Bag Ministry" at least 20 hours each summer, I packed clothing for children in Kosovo and Honduras, sent food to children in Haiti (both through an organization), participated in my churches Town of Wise trash pick up, and more. Additionally, I, along with my father, founded the Dr. Michael G. Basham Memorial Scholarship for the University of Virginia's College at Wise. What are my chances? Forgive me for the rant, just being as descriptive as possilbe.

I’d say you’re in the running to be a Jefferson scholar.
Legacy matters almost zero, BTW.

“I’d say you’re in the running to be a Jefferson scholar.”
The average SAT score of Jeffs is 2271. OP is over 300 points under that without any significant achievements to “compensate”, so unlikely.

You’re definitely correct there. I think you have a good chance at admission, or at the very least a spot on the waitlist. :)

I know that legacy doesn’t make a large difference, but when I spoke with the admissions office, she said it does help a little.
