What are my chances of transferring to an ivy league school from UCLA?

Hi everyone, I’m currently a second year at UCLA and have always wanted to attend UPenn, Brown, or Duke. I have a lot of reasons, but just based on stats, im wondering what you guys think my chances are:

MY STATS:
Male, Indian/Asian/American, middle class, live in california, transferring from a public 4 year university

Current School: University of California, Los Angeles
Major: Business Economics; Minor in Statistics
College GPA: 3.82; College Honors Program

Extracurricular:

  • I have interned at 3 places, and am currently working at a boutique bank (I’m planning on doing investment banking)
  • Part of prestigious on campus consulting club
  • On campus tutor
  • Member of a social fraternity
  • Member of the top business fraternity (yes, this means I pledged 2 out of my 4 quarters at UCLA thus far)
  • Involved in a program that fosters business development in Nigeria
  • Member of several business society’s
  • Member of financial literacy tutoring club for underprivileged Los Angeles areas
  • Executive Vice President of a National Honor Society
  • Dean’s Honors List
  • Ranked in top few musicians in the world for a particular instrument
  • Performer at Coachella
  • Given an award by the army for academic and music excellence

High School GPA: 4.2 UW; 3.88 weighted
SAT: 2150

I would only leave UCLA if i got into either UPenn, Brown, or Duke.

Let me know your thoughts, and if you are a previous transfer student, I’d love to hear from you/gather some advice! Thanks

Penn and Columbia are very welcoming of transfer students. Duke used to be less transfer friendly but the present administration is working on changing that. I don’t know enough about transfer admissions at Brown. I think you have a decent shot at Penn and Duke.

What do these Ivy schools offer that UCLA does not offer? That is what the Ivy adcoms will want to know. And if the get the feeling that “prestige” is the primary reason, you will be denied.

I don’t see how anyone can say these schools are welcoming to transfers, unless you just mean a nice attitude. Each has low transfer acceptance rates. They’ll choose the few applicants who best match what the college wants and openings for juniors in majors.

OP have you actually looked into how they describe their expectations and what studies are available at each, for undergrad business or bus econ? It sounds a bit like what you really want is proximity to NYC. That’s not enough.
