I am currently in my last semester of junior year and I am really stressed out and worried about college. My dream school is ASU, the average GPA is 3.4 but I have a 2.7. I plan on writing my essay on my struggle with keeping up my grades because I was getting bullied. My grades have improved and I am taking a college classes and AP classes, I am getting more involved with the school and I am also retaking classes at night school. Everyone says it’s easy to get in because it has an 82% acceptance rate. Do you guys think I still have a chance?
Yes.
Get some decent scores on your standardized tests. Work to move up the gpa as best you can and hang in there.
Sorry you were bullied. It must seem like an eternity but it does get better. And this won’t happen when you transition to college. It’s a fresh start.
Chin-up. I really think you can be an asu student. However. Don’t let your bullying become who you are or your story.
Arizona is the home of the Phoenix.
ASU does not require any standardized test for admission. Basically need a high school diploma to be admitted.
https://admission.asu.edu/freshman/apply says that the following (in addition to completing the required high school courses) will give admission to ASU as frosh:
However, some majors may have higher requirements. It says to go to https://webapp4.asu.edu/programs/t5 to look up the majors for any higher requirements.
Note that the 3.0 GPA is just for “competency courses”.
Also note that ASU does not require a standardized test score (unless that changed in the last year).
@ucbalumnus: The helpful post indicates that just one of these requirements needs to be met of those set out in post #4 above.
Although standardized test scores may not be needed for those who gain assured admission by HS GPA or class rank (and do not need them to be admitted to their majors), they may still be useful for some other purposes.
