What are my chances on transfering to UCLA/CAL?

Hi, I was wondering if I have any chance of getting into UCLA/CAL. I have 3.87 GPA and 4.0 in my major, which happens to be History. However, I have not taken any honors courses and I am not a member of any club at my ccc.

What are my chances with my current stats?

What can I do to improve my chances?

200 percent thats coming from a math major

I was just admitted into UC Berkeley’s College of Letters and Science, the History major is located here.

My GPA is about the same as yours. You have a really good shot as it is. However, since you will most likeley be applying for Fall '10, you have time to join an extracurricular or two. I would suggest doing that to improve your changes, don’t join 10 clubs, what you want to do is join 1 or 2 and really participate and get involved with them. Make no mistake about it UCLA and UCB are trained to spot club w/h/o/r/e/s.

I never took any honors courses, although they were not offered at the time. My school just created an honors program this semester. I was not part of PTK either–I was really worried about this during the time of application.

Keep up the good work, don’t let your GPA drop. You have a good shot! I’ll see you at Cal.

i don’t know much about history major, but i think they were looking for GPA(which u already got) comparing with ur personal statement… all depending on how impact ur major is.

…and the “Chance Me’s” Begin! hah. Yeah, I’m with everyone else, looks good for you :)

I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine, at least for UCLA. :)

You’ll be fine. I don’t think the UC’s care all that much about Clubs or Community Service. I was in no clubs beyond Phi Theta Kappa and left the Community Service section entirely blank. They didn’t offer Honors Courses at my college either so I never took any. I got into Econ at both UCLA and Berkeley.

You’re well above the average accepted GPA for UCLA for your major and probably for Berkeley too. Just don’t sweat this stuff and keep up the good work.

Your GPA is well above average. If you’re looking for ECs you should forget clubs (unless you are committed to leadership roles) - you might think about becoming a tutor for one of your history professors (always good to have some experience in the field and you can work it for your essay).

haha… now we will be the one giving “chance me” evaluations

Thank you! I simply had no idea what my chances were. Yeah, I think i’m going to try and tutor or something. Anyway, thank you so much guys!
