Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is my top school. I am applying regular decision. 3.4 GPA (unweighted), 3.95 GPA (weighted, 1380 on the SAT (1600 scale) 760 on math, 620 on reading, I am involved in a bunch of extracurriculars, am doing dual enrollment at a community college, and taking AP Physics and AP Calculus. I am also doing an internship for computer science, which is what I want to major in. What are my chances?
Your chances are good.
You have a pretty solid chance. Your SAT score in the Math section is really amazing and will matter a lot more than your reading score most likely. You could have more APs and I’m not really sure what leadership positions you held but the internship will help a lot. So yeah… you have a pretty good chance of getting in. Good luck! And remember that visiting campus helps show interest during the admissions process.
760 in math is phenominal, good job. Don’t worry too much about your reading being low, remember though, it is higher than the national average so you did good.
I believe you are easily ‘IN’ for RPI; very sure about it. Be careful though if you need Financial Aid, it’s a bit expensive to go there. You may want to apply to a number of CompSci schools so that when they all respond with FA offers, you can pick a good for your financial situation. Here’s a few affordable suggestions:
