What are my chances -> Sarah Lawrence

Hey,

My ED will probably be Sarah Lawrence College, I adore it, but I am kind of worried that I won't be accepted. Can anyone tell me what are my chances of getting in?

Female white student

I live in Paris, so there is a total different educational system (no ECs, no GPA...)

11th grade: first semester's average is A / A-

In the first year of high school I had mediocre grades, so there is a positive trend.

I am Persian

I fluently speak/read/write French, English, Persian (iranian), and a bit Spanish

I am in a renowed bilingual school of Paris

My few ECs are : founded a Literature Club, 10 hours of volunteering for families with disabilities, 4 years in a charity club for iranian disabled people...

Can get four very good recommendation letters

Can do very well on an interview

I am creative, sociable, open, multi-cultural.

I think outside the box (a reason why I suck at SATs)

Art "degree" in high school

Please TELL ME IF I HAVE CHANCES OF GETTING IN SARAH LAWRENCE COLLEGE ?

I am dying to know.

Thanks

Mojdeh,
I’m a Malaysian who just got accepted into SLC with financial aid. When are you planning to apply for SLC? I don’t think race matters much to them, because their admissions process seems to be denominational. But from what I can gather from the admissions proces and their admissions officers, you should stand a okay chance to get into the school.

A lot of it rests on your application essay, the analytical essay (which you have to submit to them) and the teacher’s recommendation, plus your grades. Having top grades won’t hurt, but I suppose average/above average grades in an academically rigorous program would be fine. My school doesn’t rank its students nor provide GPAs. We run the IB Program, so I think its quite similiar to yours.

Overall, I think you should keep up the work in all aspects, academic or otherwise. Being a Liberal Arts college, they prefer students who are well rounded, and that’s where ECs come in. Financial Aid is on a year-by-year basis, so there’s no harm trying.

Good luck! I’ll be happy to answer any questions about the process, but not so much about the actual campus and all that, seeing as how I’ve never been to NY.

Hope this helps
