What are my chances .. sort of. ~High school freshman.

I understand the whole 'it's too early to start thinking so much about ...' speech, so please try to keep that lecture to a minimum level.

I'd like to start by saying that what college I get into is NOT my life .. I just want to know how my future SHOULD be, by you guys. Considering I just started high school I still have a huge opportunity to change the next four years...

OK.

EC:

Caring For Kids and Critters (Volunteering)

(Planning to: ) Start a Book Club that will hopefully initiate in my sophomore year.
(Planning to: ) Start a Debate Club because it's really sad our school doesn't have one. Seriously.

Out of School Extracurricular:

-Volunteer at the local library (Nova Southeastern .. largest library in the - believe it or not - southeast.)
***-I WANT to volunteer as a translator but I have no idea where to go or what to do. Help, anyone?

Fun Facts:

I play the flute and the piano. Advanced flute player, above average piano player.

I take capoeira and plan to also take yoga, stress-relief purposes :D. Advanced in the art of capoeira.

I speak English and Spanish fluently, and am currently taking French and Italian classes (advanced in both). I'm HIGHLY commited to learning these languages, since language and culture are my passions. I absolutely love both language, and practice them whenever possible. *** I want to start studying around two more languages.. anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking Portuguse or German, but a lot of people say learning Chinese will be worth my while. Anyone have any other ideas?

So, where do you guys think I stand? My grades are straight A's constantly, so academically I do well enough. I'm thinking more towards the extracurricular activities that I lack. Of course I'll take Mu Alpha Theta and NHS in the future, but I still think I need more.

Also, do you think this is enough to get into an Ivy League School? Which school offers a great language program (or law program as it's my other passion)? What should I add or discard?

Thank you guys so much. :)

NO, YOU'RE A COMPLETE FAILURE. YOU'LL NEVER GO ANYWHERE IN LIFE!

Whoops, what I meant to say was... You demonstrate great passion and commitment. You also have great grades and a good course schedule. Keep it up and you'll do fine when admissions time comes around, especially considering you have URM status.

That's what you want to hear isn't it?

Get off these boards, seriously...

what is URM?? i know it means like your smart and can apply anywhere, but what does it stand for

I'm not the agressive type to cases that lead to absolutely nowhere. So. Thanks for the input.

URM means under represented minority.

I'm not presenting a case to you. I'm telling you to get off these boards.

Concentrate on getting A's and showing a passion for your extra-curricular's, and stop worrying about college choices and majors at the moment.

Basically a nicer version of what I said.

arvandm,
Who made you the college confidential Gestapo? He has every right to post on these "boards" even if it is a worthless thread. Douche

It's common sense that freshman shouldn't be worrying about college admissions.

Sure, he has a right to, but does that mean he should? No.

You said yourself its a worthless thread, and you couldn't be more right.

As the college confidential Gestapo, I exhile this thread to the depths of page 9... or something...

Well, I doubt you speak Spanish fluently, you're only in Spanish 2, you don't know much of anything. In Spanish 2, the things you learn are so basic. I also doubt you're advance in Italian or French because you're in Spanish 2. Language is easy for me too, I'm in Spanish 5H and AP Latin for freshmen year. Most of your classes are average rigorous so that's good. AP Human Geography is a joke, it isn't offered in my school though. You don't really have too much ECs...No Sports? No Clubs?

Damn, I was scared. I was worrying about college already. It's great to know that I don't have to decide or think for myself. There's always arvandm to tell me what I should and shouldn't do, say, or think. Don't know what I'd do without him making up my mind for me.

Please don't "exhile" me

The inferior do need some direction. Listen to him.

Maybe you misinterpreted what I meant.

Freshmen should be aware of the importance of maintaining good grades to get into good colleges. They shouldn't, however, be posting semi-What Are My Chances threads. If you're too dense to understand that then this is going nowhere.

(excuse the lack of accents)
:) Believe me now? I know French and Italian a little bit less than Spanish and English (still trying to grasp some concepts, like the "y" and "en" usage in French, etc.), which is why I say it is my passion. ;)

~AP Human Geography is a joke, it isn't offered in my school though.

True, but it's the only AP class freshman year has to offer.

As for sports, I have capoeira .. it's not competitive though, obviously.

OK, let me tell you what you want to hear. IMHO the whole college thing is just luck. If the right person picks out your application at the right time, and they day of your interview that person just likes what you talk about, your set. You should join some more BS EC's to look good, its a little thin there. Its great that you do instruments, but devote some of the time elsewhere in a few ecs.

Wait, so are you telling him what he wants to hear or are you giving him your honest opinion?

OP,
Nous avons des imbeciles totales dans cette <forum.> Leur opinions ne sont pas importants. Bonne chance avec trouvant des lycees et, heuresement, vous serez etre content avec votre chois.</forum.>

Wow you know rudimentary French! Congrats! I take IB French by the way.

LOL gchris. Merci.

Oh hey and it's "vous serez content avec votre chois." Might wanna work on your french before you try to insult someone.

And why are you using vous?

You're not clever.
