Hi! I’m an extremely anxious (after this summer passes) senior, and I was wondering if I had the stats to get into UCSD, my first choice college.
SAT (out of 1600): 1400, essay portion 23 (I have plans to take it for the second time in August)
GPA: unweighted it’s a 3.96
extracurricular: 100+ volunteer hours in Kaiser
**I was wondering how much my senior year will impact the admission process. According to some of my classmates, some say I must receive a near perfect grades by the end of senior year, but others tell me that as long as I retain passing grades (higher than a C), I should be fine.
UC’s do not consider your grades from Senior classes in your GPA calculation since applications are due Nov 30th.
They do consider your Senior course rigor and expect you to maintain your current GPA (some leeway here) and pass all a-g courses.
Here is a link to the UC GPA calculator that uses 10-11th grades only and extra points for AP/IB/DE and UC approved Honors courses for a weighted capped GPA.

UCSD’s provisional admission (for all UC’s except UCLA/UCB) requires you to maintain a 3.0 weighted GPA and pass all a-g courses with a C or higher. All C’s Senior year will not make the 3.0 GPA cutoff.
Basically do not get the dreaded “senioritis” and let your grades slide.
You have a solid SAT score so calculate out your UC GPA.
What is HS course rigor like?
