I don't know if my grades are low, but according to this one website it says a 4.0 gpa is 85+
My ACT is low, trying SAT in September
I feel that my EC's are good, not a laundry list, but shows passion

Will they recognize that I am more of a specialized student, and realize that the other courses are really pulling me down, cuz if I was in US, I think I would be doing well cuz dont they have a whole class jus for Geometry, Algebra????

IDK how to improve my SAT/ACT score, each practice test for SAT I get about 2000-2100, I need 2200, how do i do this???

Not with those test scores. :frowning: Good luck.

How often are you taking practice tests? Always make sure to thoroughly review the answers and explanations to further familiarize yourself with the topics.

@hqureshi11 i take practice tests, but i dnt know how to analyze my mistakes??? like what do i do

You have fairly low chances. Good luck!

If you cannot boost your ACT score by at least 3+ points, you can save your money. If you do raise your scores by 3+ points, they are still reach but more reasonable reach.

can someone please tell me what i need to work on, besides test scores

your grades need to come up and it does not look like you have too many advanced classes. The schools you are looking at, even with perfect test scores and #1 rank in your schools still only accept 5-7% of the applicants. Your ECs are concentrated in math and need to be more diverse. Summer job is not really extra-curricular unless you are doing something extra-ordinary- play down the lifeguard stuff. Depending on your family income, if you have your heart set on the top tiers, it is probably worth it to hire a college counselor who can help guide you with the programs, activities that will help you stand out. As others have said, unfortunately with where you are right now, the chances are quite low. Of course, there are always “surprises” but you need to expand your list to include schools that will give you a realistic chance. You are a solid student and will get into better match colleges.

@laurapb23‌
That is not true. If he enjoys mathematics, then he can partake in whatever activities he wants to involving mathematics.

Unless they were looking specificially for Indian/Canadians, I think this is beyond a long shot. Even then, there are probably enough better qualified people from your background that you should focus your efforts elsewhere.

@laurapb23‌ school does not offere AP, we have something called enriched which i have taken, and i am taking courses above my grade level

@manas1997‌
Ok, that is good. If you take the most difficult classes your school offers, universities will generally not penalize you for not taking AP, IB etc.

@wannabefeynman my bio mark will be low, it is a notoriously difficult class in our school, gr 12 bio, not 11.in that case if i took a sat 2 bio test and scored 750+ will it show that i am good at bio, jus that the course was hard?

@manas1997‌
It will show that you are decently proficient at biology, but a class being hard is no excuse for not doing well in it. If you cannot survive basic biology in high school, how are you going to survive genetic analysis at MIT?

@wannabefeynman i dnt wanna take bio in uni, jus wanna do math and comp science, i hate everyother subject except for physics, if im not mistaken, in US dnt they have multiple math classes in freshman year??

@manas1997‌
You have to take certain classes in university, whether you like them or not.

Your test scores are rather low for these schools, ORM, International I’m assuming (I’m not sure how US schools count Canada or whether or not you have US citizenship?), ECs are lacking, grades are on the lower side (what’s your class rank or at least UW GPA on a 4.0 scale?). You would really need to work and write amazing essays to have a chance but right now your chances are really quite low. Also, as wannabefeynman said, there are required classes at Universities that you umst take (some not entirely related to your degree). I suggest you research a little more about colleges and the admission process (you seem a little uninformed) and look into more realistic schools. Your life won’t be over if you don’t get into a top 20 school.

Seriously you have no chance at any of these schools, never mind the ACT but your gpa will hold you back from
most tier one schools so ivies is totally out of the question.

@Mark2m u know its not GPA, its Canadian percentages, its a lot harder to get marks in a canadian school, and people who have went through both systems have even said so(remem that crazy idea of them adding 10-15% to a canadian avg? I think this is where it comes into play), also, I am in top 10% of my class, so I know my grades are fine, its the ACT im worried about, I know its a 29, but thats good enuf for Cornell and CMU(Not really, but still, I will be taking SATs). All in all, IDK why every1 is jus hatin on me, and not telling me how to improve, idc about my strenths and weaknesses, I already know that my strengths are my ECs(started an organization) and my weakness is my ACT, the question is how do i improve.

@‌manas1997
That is incorrect. There are people who achieve a 100% mark in Canada, for difficulty is not an excuse.
