GPA: 3.91
MAJOR: Economics
HONORS: TAP Program for UCLA

EC:
-A lot of work experience in notable companies (Disneyland, etc)
-Webmaster (affiliate marketing)

WEAKNESSES:

Educational gaps (going to school since 2008)
-7+ W's
-still have 2 pre-reqs left for spring 2014 (calc 2 and English critical)
-igetc will be done in spring 2014

Yikes…those weaknesses! More than 7 W’s?! I guess that explains your 3.91
Umm, if you were going to school since 2008 why did you leave the important prereqs to the last minute? Lol

As @ocnative said, your W’s may work against you. With a solid personal statement on perhaps reasoning behind it taking you this long to finish CC (maybe how you turned the corner on your academic career?) your chances might be pretty good if reasoning is backed up in writing. I can’t say much without knowing your past and recent academic history so I’m kinda assuming it wasn’t so good and you started to do well recently.

A Little secret for UCLA: W’s DONT MATTER I PROMISE. But you’ll compete with people who have 4.0’s for Bus Econ/ECON majors. I think you stand a good chance for UCLA. For Berkeley, as long as you explain your W’s and how you got them, you’ll be fine. And Explain your internship experience at Disney!! Berkeley loves that. Good Luck. Have you considered other schools? I was a Econ major and I am now at the Business Administration program at UCR and love it!! It’s more practical than the Econ major at UCLA/Berkeley. ECON at UCLA and Berkeley is all theory

I had 11W’s and was still admitted to UC Berkeley Political Economy major…but I had a 4.0 and I clearly explained my illness in the additional comments esssay (3rd essay)

Hey, don’t worry about those weaknesses. There will always be naysayers on here that think UC’s care about trivial W’s. These are the 19 year old kids with 3.7 GPA’s that still live at their parents house. Yeah, I sure hope that community service works out for them… Lol, The UC’s know that many of us have hectic lives. In the real world, real problems arise. The UC’s won’t penalize you for using a service offered to you. As long as you aren’t withdrawing from an Econ class multiple times, you have no need to worry. As for the pre-reqs outstanding, if the school wants to admit you, they will simply put in the stipulations that you must pass these classes.

The reason for the educational gap and W’s was because I was working full-time while supporting myself. School really wasn’t a main priority for me at the time. Most of my W’s were because I dropped the entire semester.
