I am open to other suggestions and I am willing to chance you guys if you chance me. I know this is long and it seems tiring to read but I am really nervous. I am pretty sure I am top 10% in my school but I forgot to try for National Honors Society in my school and I can't apply again. Please, any information is helpful and I appreciate any kind of feedback.

Thank you <3

You NEED to raise your grades this year; it’s not too late! Talk to your teachers or something, because a bunch of B’s junior year WILL hurt you, unless you’re still val or sal afterwards. Lol

Your SAT’s are good-no real need to retake… btw i’m EXTREMELY impressed with your huge improvement in CR.

I think a concrete GPA and rank are needed to properly chance you… I will tell you that RPI and BU are safeties for you though.

The ivies, Caltech, MIT are totally unrealistic. Lesley is correct, the junior year grade drop is fatal. Being Asian and from NJ puts you into a highly competitive pool. You need to go back to the drawing board to create a realistic list.

While a bunch of these people are saying that your grades are going to break it for you, I disagree. By all means, improve you grades if you can, but don’t get hung up on them. The rest of your qualifications are very impressive, and remember, for a lot of these colleges and universities, GPA, especially for just one year, is not the most important part of your transcript. For example, MIT doesn’t give two hoots about a lot besides your personal qualities and what drives you. That doesn’t mean that it will completely disregard your GPA, but don’t think that you have to revamp your entire college list.

Wow, why do people without a clue post?

I know that my junior year grades dropped a lot and I’m doing my best to bring them up but they are tough courses and the teachers are tougher. I talked to them and they said to just try your best and thats what im doing.

btw BUMP please. I’m desperate. and I do know that my list of ivies is unrealistic but i am open to suggestions from everyone about other schools i might be able to apply to.

BUMP. ill chance u back

come on. over 270 views and not a single new comment? please i promise i will chance you back.

Bump10char

Honestly, ivies are tough to get into no matter who you are. I think your difficult course load will help. I know a guy who got into Cornell and University of Chicago who didn’t even make the honor roll sometimes (90% is honor roll and we have 5% curve for honors/AP) but took hard classes. Conversely, our valedictorian took only 2 or 3 APs and didn’t get into Cornell. Your SAT scores look good for CMU, but I haven’t looked at the others enough to be able to tell you. MIT looks a lot at your personality, so if you think you can really sell yourself and your passion, that’s a possibility, though statistically slim.
