I am a high school junior in florida, but I’m scared I won’t get accepted to my dream school, which is UCF. I’m not counting on FSU, but I just want to know my chances. So here are my stats:
3.2 unweighted gpa, 3.7 weighted gpa
2 AP classes and all honors classes throughout high school, never had a regular class.
As for clubs I was only in one, Future Business Leaders of America.
Did cross country
40 community service hours
I also read that FSU likes upward trends. These are my individual GPA’s.
Freshman year:2.6
Sophomore year:3.71
Junior year: 3.3
And I’m taking my SAT’s next week, but I plan to do quite well since I got in the 1500 range on my PSAT. So what do you guys think? Do I have a chance at any?

And I’m in my schools technology academy with four honors technology classes and I’m certified in Microsoft word, excel, adobe flash, photoshop.

FSU, UCF, USF: Reach

FAU: Safety

Keep taking and retaking the SAT because your chances will get a lot better if you can get your score higher. A 1500 is exactly the average score on the SAT, not a particularly good score for these schools (unless you mean CR+M only).

If you get a decent SAT score (say 1200 CR and M), I think you would definitely get in to UCF. I don’t think they care that much about clubs. Try to get more community service hours, as that goes on your transcript, which is all they look at. 40 is low. Schools in my county REQUIRE 75, so that is what you’re competing against.

And apply early. If you take the SAT early enough, it would not be a terrible idea to apply in August. My daughter (3.5 weighted, 1360 CR and M) got accepted to UCF in a couple of days, and now, I see people with similar stats getting rejected. It really does make a difference. I know a kid who was accepted in August.

P.S. Everyone I know did way better on the SAT than the PSAT. They say that the SAT score is just the PSAT times 10, but that has not been the experience of my family and friends!

Did you have a leadership role in FBLA? Have you been in any competitions? It wouldn’t hurt to try to do that now. Like I said, I don’t really think UCF cares how well-rounded you are, but if you are applying to FSU, they do. Also, try to do something that sounds good over the summer. An internship or volunteer work.

@Alex23: The opposite thing happened to me. I did way better on the PSAT. My percentile for the SAT was about 8 points lower than my PSAT percentile. I was quite disappointed.
