I have about a 3.35 GPA in all honors/CP curriculum. I've taken all of the required courses and have went above and beyond. After next year I will have played varsity football for four years, been in Key Club, Foreign Language Club, Power Lifting Team, Fellowship of Christian athletes, Prom Committee, and played baseball freshman year. I recently scored a 22 on the ACT and will most likely take it again, BUT as of right now, what are my chances?

I live and go to school in Ohio, however my parents own a house in Tampa and plan on moving after I graduate; so I can apply as an in-state resident. (At least I think)

Definitely apply for summer and I think you have a decent shot. If you bring it up to a 23 then you should be in for summer. It’s also harder because you’re OOS so if you could get it to a 24 I’d say you’d be a good match. Have you tried the SAT? If not, you should.

Yes I’m an OOS which hurts my chances, but I heard about something today called “binding”. Basically that if I apply early and sign an agreement that I promise to attend USF if I am accepted, then it could really help my chances. But yeah I will probably at least try to take it again in June. Although I really don’t want to. Haha.

You should def. study and take it again. Trust me. The higher you score the more money they will offer you if accepted, and you never want to wish you had taken it or studied more like I did. I have sooo many regrets and things I wish I would have done differently in regards to the college admissions process so trust me on this lol. And make sure you meet their minimum requirements which is an 18 in math and I forgot what they are for reading and writing. Ohh and are you in the first generation to go to college in your family and/or come from a lower income family? If you are then it is easier to get in because they have 2 special programs for that and the test score requirements are lower.

Well unfortunately I am not… Haha… However my dad was a 1988 graduate of USF, and although they say that alumni relation is only “considered”, some students have told me that it can play a significant role. But yeah I had a 19 in math. Or an 18? I forget, but I know I didn’t get any lower. Reading was a 20 and english was a 30. I have always been good at english for some reason.

Anyway, I think I will most certainly take another stab at it. I mean why not? It’s not like I can go lower. Especially since this one was the hardest ACT I’ve taken counting the one in february, and the practice tests.

But thanks for the replies Mayday. I just really want to go to USF for family and personal reasons.

Oh and is there anyway you could give me a link, or show me a website that can further discuss the “summer” programs? That would be awesome. Haha.

USF superscores the ACT and SAT tests. Study and practice for the math portion of the tests all this summer and re-take the test in Aug. or early Sept. I’m pretty sure you need a minimum 19 math score for admission consideration.
