You just finished your freshman year, this is wayyyyy too early for a chance thread. The only advice anyone can give you is to work hard and make sure you get as close to a 4.0 (UW) as possible and as close to perfect on your standardized test scores as possible. Try to improve your GPA if possible, at least to 3.8 (UW) if you want to go to some of the better colleges on your list. Also make sure you get some leadership positions as well.

Really? I didn’t think it was considering I’ve already received letters/emails from colleges asking me to visit, but I haven’t been interested in any of them (schools like UNCG, Miami U, AUR, etc.)

Colleges send generic emails following SAT testing of any kind.

They’re not generic emails and usually they come through my gc.

Like one letter said based on your academic success and your athletic attributions to your school we are interested in having you visit. We would be honored if you would attend our university and choose to cheer along with our team. We have over 100 undergraduate programs and…
It just goes on talking about academics, organizations and athletics.

Anyone else? Bump

believe it or not, they are typical college letters and mail. I get letters and e-mails all the time about U of Chicago, Vanderbilt, etc talking about how I’m “a special kind of student”. It’s just mail to get you interested in the school, but they send that stuff to everyone. If you’re talking about actually being recruited by a school for a sport, then I’d think the scouts would contact you personally. All of my friends who are top in the state at football, wrestling, and so forth are actually approached by the scouts. I wouldn’t worry about colleges until at least the beginning of Junior year. Once you know how junior year grades and SAT scores and such pan out, you’ll have a better idea of what college you have a shot at getting in at and which ones would fit you.

Like the previous guy stated, you need to raise your unweighted GPA and score at least a 2100+ on the SAT in order to at least be competetive for schools like Notre Dame and Michigan. For Stanford and Yale, you really need 2300+. Just make sure you get all A’s in your core classes and study for SAT early. If you do that, you can be in good shape for those schools.
