I am one of those people who constantly worries about whether I will get into a decent college. I tend to think that a college with a big name will make me a successful person, however I know that is untrue.

Some of the colleges I am looking at are:
1) University of Minnesota - Twin Cities (I have two legacies, if that matters, my father and brother).
2) New York University
3) George Washington University

My statistics are:

GPA: 3.63 (Weighted = 4.21)
2 Stellar Letters of Recommendations
Almost entirely AP Classes and CIS Classes (University of Minnesota colleges classes)

Extra curricular activities:
1) Captain of the Debate Team
2) Captain of the Knowledge Bowl Team
3) Senior Member of the Rocket Team
4) Bassoonist for a Community College Band
5) Oboist for a Student Opera company

Standardized Tests :(:

My SAT Scores was low. It was 1730. I am aware that this is low and I have been working throughout the summer on numerous books (along with ACT books) to make sure I get a better score next time.

What are your thoughts?

If you have college suggestions, I'd love to look into them.

Thanks.

Your SAT scores probably make for a reject at NYU, and it would be difficult to be admitted to both GWU and U Minnesota with those scores. You need to retake the tests for 2000+ to get in reliably to Minnesota and GWU, and given your GPA and ECs you probably need to be at 2200+ for NYU.

Your dedication and skill at the oboe displays tremendous commitment and perseverance. You’re in at all of them

I have a question too, if i don’t bother you, answer me, please…
Im an international student and trying to study in Grinnell college. Can you tell me what are my chances to be admitted with full-ride scholarship?
My SAT score is 2040(verbal+math=1360)
GPA 4.0
Head of student council
Captain of my school at intelectual contests
Gold medal candidate
Volunteer job 100 hours
Third place at national studying olympiad in my country(in one subject)
Winner of many contests
Played basketball
Playing the piano(graduated from musical school with honor diploma)
Danced national dances at choreographic ensemble and so on
I think I will have really good recommendations from teachers, etc
My family cannot really pay for my studying even 15000$, I need full-ride scolarship
Please, estimate my chances…

Thanks. Are there any other opinions?

Forgive me, but I must bump.
