Summer Activities: Working with politicians on campaigns etc

Intended focus: Law

Essays:
Personal Statement: Very very interesting way I wrote it, I don't want to go into specifics about the structure but it was very different. About my “life story” per say and how I realized exactly what I wanted to do. I was told by multiple professionals and peers that it was one of the best they’ve ever read.

Why Columbia: Still thinking what to write

Why my major (Law):I want to go into politics and really bring about change

Teacher Recommendation: One I was allowed to read, and if everything works out, and she sends the one I read, it is literally amazing. The other one will hopefully be good.

Counselor Rec: I go to a large public, so it will probably be pretty generic as I've only spoken to him a few times

Additional Rec: From one of the politicians I worked for (ran for state assembly), going to be very very good

bump

bump I’ll return the favor.

I want to add that I wen’t from an 83 average freshman year to 93 sophomore and 98 junior year, significant improvement in all subjects and I got almost a perfect score in honors physics my junior year, a 99.

Generally with the Ivies, it’s anyones ball game! Your EC’s are up to par and the trend of improvement could also give you a bump. I think you stand a chance

Honestly, I think your test scores, GPA, and course rigor (only 3 APs ?) are not really on par with a lot of the applicants. I thought maybe the ECs would make up for it but they seem very limited and sort of generic. Hopefully your essays will be very unique, because otherwise I’d say Columbia is a pretty high reach for you.
