WHAT ARE MY CHANCES

Hey. I am a senior this year, and I am applying to some fairly competitive colleges such as BC and Villanova. The problem is, freshman year I messed up and got a GPA of 3 after scaling. Ever since then, I have improved massively. I had a 4.0 gpa scaled sophomore year and a 4.37 scaled junior year with two AP classes and 1 honors classe. I am taking two AP classes, two honors classes, and one CP class this year. I got a 2100 on my SATs and somehow got a 33 on my ACTs after perfect scoring one of the sections, so these colleges would be target colleges for me if I hadn’t messed up freshman year. Because of my bad freshman year however, my scaled GPA is only a 3.82, I am hoping that my test scores will make up for my bad freshman year, and that colleges will see the upward trend in my grades. Do I have an alright chance of getting into these colleges.

To be clear, 3.82 is the weighted or unweighted GPA? If it’s unweighted I think you are competitve for both BC and Villanova.

I think that you are pretty competitive for both schools and your test scores are very good! Just make sure that you have done extracurricular activities, to make you even more competitive for college! Also, how did you prepare for the ACT and SAT…sorry for the question, but I’m just wondering, so I can perhaps improve my score:)

My gpa is weighted in the above paragraph. For extracurricular activities I have done Cross Country and Track and Field for the past four years, played the piano for the past 10 years, done indoor track and field for one year, and done three summer internships. To prepare for the SAT I had a tutor for a couple of months, but I got a 2020 without a tutor. I did one two hour prep class for the ACTs. In regards to the SAT, get one of the books, and just do practice tests over and over to find areas that need improvement. For the ACT, learn the science section. It is easy enough to learn if you take a 2 hour class. Everything else is pretty basic.
