What are my chances?

I am currently a sophomore in high school. My class rank is in the top 20th percentile of my grade. I have a 4.0 GPA.
AP classes that I took and currently taking:
-AP Biology: A
-AP Chemistry: A
-AP World History: A
I will be taking AP Calc AB, AP Language and Composition, AP US History, and possibly AP Physics next year.

Currently, I’m taking Spanish 3 and have a good grade in it. I will be taking Spanish 4 next year. Also, I am in Chamber Orchestra at my school.

Extracurricular activities:

-Boy Scouts: Life Scout (still working on my eagle project)
-Orchestra at my church
-Beta Club
-Interact Club
-Spanish Honor Society

*I don’t have any sports. I know that being in sports is very important. I will try out for swimming in my junior year as I swam for about 4 years then stopped.

PSAT:
-1270 out of 1600

Are there any tips you guys could give me? If I am weak in a particular area, please let me know.

Definitely try to star playing sports, and if you don’t have sports but are outstanding in all other respects, USNA would expect a stellar Candidate Fitness Assessment Score. Eagle scout is definitely something they value, and you should also look into Boys State. Really think about why you want to join the Navy/what led to your interest in Naval Service, as this will help you craft a great personal essay when the time comes to apply.

As a sophomore, you have plenty of time to prepare yourself for the impending process. Next year, you will be able to apply for Summer Seminar, and this year you can apply for the summer STEM program. The applications are now open, and this is a stellar way to see campus.

It is never too early to start training for this. For example, I only have 2 Varsity Letters, but I had great academics/test scores/CFA scores, and I have received an appointment to the class of 2020. Also, definitely work on those test scores. USNA generally looks for above a 1300, but the higher the better. These tests simply need a lot of practice. For example, I received a 1300/1600 on the PSAT, but with some practice, achieved a 1500/1600 on the actual SAT.

Best of luck!
