Hello, I am a transfer student looking to get admission into Penn State University Park. I notice that their required minimum is 2.5 GPA. My cumulative college GPA is currently 2.7 with two years of coursework completed. Over the past two semesters I have shown marked improvement in my grades, as my GPA has been 3.1 and 3.5 (Dean’s List) respectively.
My issue is, is that I was recently expelled from my institution for disciplinary reasons. However, if my appeal is successful I have no intention of continuing my education at this institution as I am sickened by their investigative process and I do not believe it was fair towards me whatsoever. I am worried that disclosing this to Penn State will adversely affect my chances of getting into the school. Prior to this incident, my record has been completely clean. I have no record of academic dishonesty or any previous disciplinary problems with the school. For all intents and purposes, I have been an involved member of the school community, serving as the community service chair for one of the organizations I am involved with. I also asked the school that expelled me if the expulsion will show on my transcript, and they said it would not.
So…what are my chances?
